Mouse in Stew Limerick


A man who was dining at Crewe,
Found quite a large mouse in his stew,
Said the waiter, "Don't shout!
And wave it about,
Or the rest will be wanting one too."

    The version of this that I first read before I was 14 (late 1973?) was:

    A toff who was dining at Crewe,
    Found quite an elephant's wang in his stew,
    Said the waiter, "Don't shout,
    And don't wave that about,
    Or the others will all want one too."
